Author Talk with Hien Le

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2:00 PM

The author of children’s book “Lunar New Year: One Holiday, Many Celebrations” talks cultural heritage and festive traditions.

GENERAL ADMISSION

Join children’s book author Hien Le for an engaging storytelling session and discover that Lunar New Year is celebrated in many unique ways. Each culture honors the holiday through its own traditions, foods, clothing, and beliefs, yet all share a common spirit of hope, unity, and pride in heritage.

-----

The story takes place in Mrs. Le's 3rd Grade classroom, where students learn that Lunar New Year isn't celebrated in just one way.

Each group researches a different country-China, Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia-to discover how each culture honors the holiday through its own unique traditions, foods, clothing, and beliefs.

Whether readers are enjoying dumplings, tossing prosperity salad, or giving red envelopes, this book reminds us that each tradition contributes to something greater-a shared celebration of hope, unity, and pride in heritage.

About the Author

Hien Le is an elementary school teacher who believes that a touch of creativity, a hint of culture, and a story filled with wonder can transform any day into an adventure. After publishing her first children’s book, she found herself inspired anew by the excitement, curiosity, and joy her students bring to the classroom—an inspiration that led her to create her second book.

For over 16 years, Hien has celebrated the magic of Lunar New Year with her students through traditions, storytelling, and hands-on activities. Their enthusiasm continues to shape her writing and fuels her passion for sharing cultural stories with young readers everywhere.

When she’s not teaching or writing, Hien enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children. Together, they love reading, traveling, exploring new places, and seeking out fun adventures.

Hien lives in Elk Grove, California, where she continues to inspire—and be inspired by—the wonderful students she meets each day.
