Zheng Chongbin: Liquid Space
Zheng Chongbin: Liquid Space
“One of the most important contemporary artists in Asia who continues to hold the classical Chinese ink tradition and Western pictorial abstraction in productive mutual tension.” ---Shibunkaku Group, Kyoto, Japan, regarding Zheng Chongbin’s solo exhibition.
This collaboration marks an important milestone as Zheng’s first showcase in Japan. The artist’s installation project, Liquid Space, a three-dimensional wall sculpture mounted on custom-made honeycomb-aluminum panels, allows the viewer to experience Zheng’s integration of the light and space in the artist’s installation practice. Liquid Space was displayed at Ryōsokuin, a sub-temple of Kenninji, the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto, in accordance with Zheng’s passion for Japanese Zen and its inextricable links to his works.
