Wood Bow TieMaruni
These one-of-a-kind bow ties are made using the same wood-carving techniques and patterns as karakami, a type of woodblock print started in Kyoto in the Heian Period to make shoji, or paper screens for sliding doors. For centuries, it has been popular — with nobles, samurai warriors, tea ceremony practitioners, and, in the Edo period, commoner merchants — and it has been passed down as a traditional craft.
