VINTAGE WOODBLOCK PRINTS PINK FLOWERSDandelion
Shodo Kawarazaki is best known in Japan for his botanical woodblock prints, first printed in the 1950’s by Unsodo. Born in Kyoto in 1889, Shodo studied the traditional art of yuzen (rice paste resist) dyeing under the guidance of Yamoto Sekkei and Japanese painting under Shibahara, although it was his teacher Kishyo who helped cultivate Shodo’s original style of expression. These prints are part of a posthumous series by the original printer in Kyoto.
