Puzzle Small Eight SteedsNPM
This small puzzle is inspired by the Qing Dynasty hand scroll Eight Steeds by Giuseppe Castiglione in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei.
Castiglione (1688–1766) was an Italian Jesuit missionary in China, where he served as an artist at the imperial court. Following the taste and tradition of painting in China, Castiglione used Chinese materials but often incorporated Western techniques of shading and atmospheric perspective. Eight Steeds portrays eight horses in various postures — crouching, playing, loafing and rolling — by a willow tree.
